The INTERNATIONAL SYMPOSIUM ON ALCOHOL FUELS - 17^TH ISAF will be held from October 13^th to 16^th, 2008, in Taiyuan, China.
The purposes of ISAF are to look for sustainable substitute energy sources, such as alcohol and ether fuels, biodiesel etc., to exchange ideas on the research, development and utilization of these fuels, to accelerate the exploitation of clean fuels for vehicles and to reduce environmental pollution. ISAF is held every two years, up to now sixteen sessions of it have taken place in different countries such as South Africa, Canada, Brazil (twice), America (3 times), China, Japan, Thailand, Germany, France, Italy, Sweden (twice) and New Zealand. The International Organizing Committee recommended that ISAF XVII be held in Taiyuan to offer international policy makers, scientists, and energy experts a chance here for them to experience and learn about Shanxi’s efforts in the area of sustainable fuels and stout implementation of the new environmental policy.
